Malene Rigtrup, Birgitte Næslund Madsen, and Carsten Seyer-Hansen all work with youth choirs, but with very different ideals of timbre and sound. Carsten and Birgitte are the leaders of Aarhus U, a mixed youth choir of 32 singers between 15 and 25 years, singing a repertoire consisting of both classical and contemporary music inspired by jazz, pop or world music. Malene Rigtrup is the conductor of the girl’s choir Maestra – a group of 25 singers singing modern vocal music from folk to pop.
At the AAVF-workshop the three conductors will show their different approaches to the music, and they will also work
with each other’s choir. Before the workshop, Aarhus U and Maestra have met a couple of times to get to know each other.
The workshop is kindly supported by the Danish youth choir organisation SYNG, www.syng.dk
