The RVC offers a study environment characterized by innovation and competence development. This environment is reflected partly in the various programmes offered at the RVC, partly in the associated teaching staff, and finally in the constant development and improvement of curricula and course offerings.
The RVC, with our many collaborators, acts as a generator of innovation within our field, nationally and internationally. We are front-runners in the development of artistic expression on rhythmic choir music and continuously seek to develop and refine methods and didactics.
Volunteers and vocal enthusiast drive the AAVF, and we meet around 2-4 times a month and discuss, plan, execute, and in these times, reorganize the festival and all the activities surrounding it. In this small segment, we will focus on some of the board members and vital AAVF collaborators.
Today, we present former artistic director of AAVF and one of the pioneers within innovative choir directing in Europe Jim Daus Hjernøe. Jim is a senior professor at The Royal Academy of Music in Denmark (RAMA). He is the principal teacher and head of RAMA Vocal Center, recognized internationally as a leading European center of Jazz/Pop Choir education. Jim Daus Hjernøe has focused on improvisational vocal art since 2002 and developed the innovative and revolutionary education philosophy ‘The Intelligent Choir’ with ‘Vocal Painting’ as one of the headliners. As a conductor, he has been touring internationally with his vocal ensembles Vox North and RAMA Voices and shared the stage with Bobby McFerrin, Rhiannon and Roger Treece on several occasions.
