Maria Schultz Appelt is a physical therapist with twenty years of experience, specializing in functional analysis of both children and adults. She owns a pediatric physiotherapy clinic in the center of Aarhus and is also known from Instagram, where she shares knowledge about children’s motor development in several languages – including English – on @develobaby.
Alongside her clinical work with children, Maria has a long background as a singer. For 13 years she was a first soprano in the internationally acclaimed choir Vocal Line, where she at times drew on her background as a physical therapist in the rehearsal room. Today she continues her singing journey as a first soprano in VoA – Voices of Aarhus. She has also contributed singer-focused physical exercises to Warm Up, a book by Tine Fris-Ronsfeld and Kristoffer Thorning.
At AAVF, together with Lucas Tuan Minh Hoang, Maria will share her expertise through a workshop that combines practical physical warm-up exercises with just enough theory to understand why they work – offering singers and conductors relevant tools to improve stamina, resonance, support, expression, and overall joy of singing.
