TUULETAR (“Goddess of The Wind” in Finnish mythology) is a multi-award-winning vocal performance
group from Finland. The band has been dazzling the press and audiences all over the world and has become
one of the most well-known and busiest modern folk music bands in Finland. Since 2012 the members of the
band have been singing, composing and performing together, creating their own, unique sound and identity.
They create a vivid sonic landscape, where beatbox rhythms meet Finnish poetry tradition and global
influences.
During the recent years, Tuuletar has been actively performing in more than 20 different countries in
festivals like WOMEX (Spain, Finland), WOMAD (Australia, New Zealand, UK), Sur Jahan (India),
Budapest RITMO (Hungary), Songlines Encounters (UK), Taiwan A Cappella Festival and EtnoKrakow
(Poland). The band’s two studio albums “Tules Maas Vedes Taivaal” (2016) and “Rajatila” (2019) rose to the
TOP 10 of both World Music Charts Europe and Transglobal World Music Chart lists. In 2016 their album
“Tules Maas Vedes Taivaal” won the prestigious Finnish EMMA award (the Finnish equivalent to the
Grammy Award) for the Best Ethno Album of the Year. In 2019 Tuuletar won the prize for the ‘Border
Breaking Act of the Year’ in the Finnish Ethno-gala.
Tuuletar’s music has been placed on several TV-series such as HBO’s megahit Game of Thrones (season 7
DVD trailer), Wentworth (FOX), Monarca and Rain (Netflix). Tuuletar is also singing the vocal score in a
Finnish movie production Tunturin tarina (Tale of the Sleeping Giants) (2020).
